with DJ Ms Rizk, BUMPY, Jazzparty
as part of the Melbourne International Jazz Festival 2023
Friday 20th October 2023
I had seen this was on but had been bus the last few weeks and had not clocked that was coming up so soon. Due to getting tickets for two other shows coming up I decided free is good and decided to go to this instead of the Melbourne Fringe Festival this year.
Due to working in the city these days I got there pretty early and there weren't many people around. I didn't really feel like an early dinner but did get some drinks and gozleme from the stall that is always there by the river.
I had heard of BUMPY before but had not managed to see her. She seemed nice and she had her mum there filming her, which was nice. I did get to talk to Gerald and Diz turned up during the set.
Due to living over the other side of town these days I cannot make the Monday night gigs at Shotkickers and it has been a while since I saw Jazzparty at the Corner Hotel. There seemed to be not so much audience when they started and then a lot by the time they finished including a lot of other photographers and randoms like you get in the CBD including that dude in no shirt who pulled his undies up his arse crack.
There were events the next day such as the second line jazz band travelling from South Bank to Fed Square and a lot of other gigs but I am happy enough I went to this gig. I had to cancel a gig I was going to that weekend due to being sick so I am extra glad I made it.
