A Celebration of Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers
Featuring Nick Barker, Rebecca Barnard, Sal Kimber, Rob Craw, Georgia Knight and guests
Memo Music Hall, Saturday 21st January 2023

I had asked about this one ages ago as I took photos at the Bob Dylan tribute and then the Huxton Creepers show. This show had sold out so I got asked again if I still wanted to come due
to my hip playing up. Luckily I got to stand off to one side upstairs and not be in the way of people. I did sit down in the set break and before the show. Back when the Caravan Music Club was still in Melbourne I used to go to a lot more of these but it was also easier for me to get to them at the time.

As it turns out I do know a lot more Tom Petty songs than I thought especially from his song writing for other people and so did the audience who sang along to a few of the songs. I did see that Diz was up and dancing during the show but you have to do that at the sides now as the tables are right up to the stage now in the venue.

From what I have heard this was a trial run of the show and from the fact that it sold out and they had such a good reaction to the show it looks like it will be having another run and touring around.

Special mention to it being Sal Kimber's first gig since she had her bub. She and Rebecca Barnard seemed to be having a lot of fun and Georgia Knight seems like she should do well in her upcoming gigs also.

This ended up finishing earlier than I thought it would as they had 18 songs for the show and once they were done they did not have an encore, maybe in the follow-up shows they may work something out.
