Watty Thompson & His Total Fire Band

RRR Performance Space, Friday 21st July 2023

I was originally going to go to something else on the Thursday but decided to see if I could get a pass to this instead as I finally got to see Geraldine Hickey's show from the comedy festival on the Wednesday and did not want to be out too much before the film festival.

As with last time I got to have dinner at the Lomond before and did manage to get a chair even though I had not heard back by the time I was there. It turned out they sent the email to me when I was already inside. Too late then my phone is off.

I did get to say hello to Watty a bit before the show and it filled up pretty quickly. They did not quite get the full band there due to train delays but it was about 12 people on stage which is a lot for the performance space.

Unlike the last time at the bush dance I wasn't tired and wanting to leave when they started so I go to see the entire set. It was a great set especially the extended introduction to his friend who had passed way that one song was dedicated to.

It was a great broadcast and Watty Thompson's next shows will be a more intimate affair with just him and his string section around the place. Worth having a look into.
