Union Hotel Brunswick, Sunday 9th June 2024

I had heard of this a while ago but was still not really sure if I would go as I had not been working until quite recently. There was plenty on for the long weekend and I remembered to book by the Wednesday before to get a table booking. Even though I ended up moving tables anyway it was worth it still.

The only act I had actually seen on the bill was Rhianna Fibbins and I had not even seen her play for a while. She says that the Sideshow Brides have been wound up but Layla seemed to think differently when I asked her later. Also I laughed when Rhianna talked about her sister as it was exactly what I imagine she would say about her they did work together in bars and were in a band together for a long time.

The format of the day was a round-robin style arrangement with everyone doing one song each and people going off and on the stage over the course of the day. Jeremy Beggs even got up to sing for a few songs as he was just finishing by the time I got there (I wanted to try getting off at Royal Park and getting the tram up for once).

It ended up being pretty busy there in the end with a lot more people than I remember last time seeing it was the long weekend. Also a lot of people talking rather than watching the band but you get that since there was no door charge.

Overall I thought it was a great show and they are doing to do another one in a couple of months hopefully.
