I had been here last week to see Dog Trumpet and some other bands but had already agreed I was coming to this gig and got my name on the door.
This year I had missed the Bob Dylan birthday gig as I was asked if I wanted to go but I was still not working at the time and it was during the week so not great for me to get home from. Also not having the money to buy dinner out might have had something to do with it.
I knew everyone who was playing and have enjoyed these in the past. Was some wag on the street who said "A Neil Young tribute? That explains the age group then!" Yes pretty much. Also good that the gig was all table seating this time so I could find somewhere to sit.
The first set they played the On the Beach album in order and then the second set they played some of their favourite Neil Young tracks. Nick Barker went and sat in one of the decorative banana lounges at one point. Even though I did enjoy it I had to get a tram so left when they started playing Cortez the Killer as I know how long that song goes for. It was good to talk to Pete again as that was the second time in two weeks and I had not seen him since Christmas when I went over to Archies Creek with my dad.
Not sure if I am going to Out on the Weekend this year, not getting paid as much these days can't do as much but will still try to make it to these gigs.
