You Are Not Too Much And You Are Enough & Diamond In The Mine Launch

10/10/2024

with Mastaneh Nazarian, Jackie Marshall, Chris Pickering, Louise Mackenzie, Sarah Carroll and the Big Fuss (Fenn Wilson, George Carroll-Wilson, Marcel Borrack, Leigh Ivin)
Coburg RSL, Saturday 27th April 2024

I had seen this one a while ago and wasn't sure I was going to be able to make it, but luckily Sarah and Jackie decided to make it "pay what you can afford" which was nice and also I found out when I got there they would have put me on the door but I didn't know that. For next time I will remember to get dinner there as it is RSL prices for the kitchen also. I did have a good dinner on the way with a lot larger serving that I had thought.

It had been quite a few years since I saw Jackie Marshall play live and I had unfortunately missed seeing the screening of the movie she was involved in near me as I already had something else on that night. It did seem like a lot more people than that show at the Northcote Social Club when I was one of the only ones there and the band started talking about getting Pho after the show.

Being generous with having people play support was Mastaneh Nazarian who I would not have gone to see otherwise as I just didn't know who she was. Louise Mackenzie also got to play a song for the first time during Jackie Marshall's set. It was a good set and included a mix of different songs including some from the Soldier's Wife project and Jackie talking about her grandfather in Kokoda.

While I get to see Sarah a bit I do not often get to see her in the more rocky format like this and with George and Fenn playing in the band. Was a great gig and hopefully we get to see this band more in the future at least for the launch in July.

Even though I got home quite late from this I was happy to have gone and been able to make it.
