Emerald Hill Music and Poetry Festival Week 4

09/09/2025

with Sam Williams, Michael Crane, Greg Arnold
Emerald Hill Library, Tuesday 2nd December 2025

I had booked the previous week and got asked by Michael if I could make it to this one as well and to come to dinner afterwards. Did not mind that I just had to ask for an extra hour off at work two weeks in a row but it was far enough in advance that it did not matter as much unlike the week before where no-one stopped me logging off on one of our busiest days of the year at work.

George's friend Sam Williams did some poems to open the night and I got a photo with George and his partner and Sam and his friend in the break.

Michael's poems got a good reaction I have heard them a lot by now but people still like to listen to them. I got a comment when I shared the link to the previous week's photos that he was a "South Melbourne legend" and sent it to him as he does not do socials that much.

Greg Arnold played a bunch of his new and old songs and stories in between them. The actual "Helen" from his most famous song did the backing vocals for Happy Birthday Helen from the audience.

George and friends did come down to the pub afterwards but did not end up staying. We had to wait outside a bit but I had about the biggest parma I have had and got an Uber home so I would not be out too late. Looking forward to the Rockumentary next year at the St Kilda Film Festival and more of these gigs at the library.
