Mind Your Langridge 6/Cal's 50th

I had seen this one coming up and was invited early for Cal's birthday but didn't want to get there too early as I had the gig on afterwards. I got to bed late the previous night which I probably should not have. Still got there about an hour before the bands which was enough of the birthday celebration for me.

Had not seen the Swedish Magazines for quite a few years despite them being one of the very first bands I photographed with my first digital camera I owned in 2004. They went in for Cal's birthday cake after the soundcheck. I got to get a seat for the bands or I would not have been able to stay very long. It was at least dry under the awning but still cold with the wind blowing.

Also, a while since I saw the Breadmakers and they always put on a good show. Was a replacement bass player who had a bit of an issue with his gear but no harm done.

Biggest surprise for the day was Sister Paul who were on tour from Japan and had been staying at a hostel near Vic Market for two weeks while they do shows around town. For a two piece they do get pretty energetic and a lot of people seemed to come in just to see them. I will hopefully see them again if they come out to Australia.

I was very tired by the time Smoked Salmon came on and someone decided to stand right in front of me and kept standing on my foot even though I was sitting down. Had a fisherman's basket and went home. Was a great day, will be worth going to the ones later on in the year when the weather warms up.
