I had booked this when the extra show went on sale as I thought it would be pretty stupid to miss it given, I have not seen the band play since 2010. Had to keep all my MIFF screenings out of the way of it and also ended up having more that weekend anyway due to being in hospital the first week of August and I had to move things around. Was certainly not going to any other gigs at the same time as MIFF I have done that before it is not really fun.

Wasn't sure I would be able to take photos due to a new booker for the venue but the band was fine with it and I got to sit in the accessible seating. Seemed like a heap of people went up the very top up the stairs from the amount of people who walked past. I only took photos for the first two songs for both bands as I didn't want to be in the way.

Had not seen Time for Dreams before I thought they went fine though. Due to a lot of people who had not seen the Drones for a while it was a big social occasion and also a gig so there was a lot more people talking during their set than usual.

The Drones were just as good as I remember them. I had not actually seen Tropical Fuck Storm and only Gareth's solo stuff one or two times. Gareth was extra salty for people talking but that's on you, fire up and give people a reason not to! The venue was busier than I had ever seen it even with the Counterfeit they had the tables and people standing behind. For this one it was standing only except for the accessible seats. Dan Kelly said it would be the band wanting someone to change a string is why they mentioned him on stage.

Much amusement from me posting a photo of Gareth's tootsies from a photo of my camera's LCD screen on Instagram and the band shared it! I did put some nicer ones up later but did not get through all the photos until the Thursday the week after due to work and wanting to go out for a drink when Dolly Parton died. Not sure when the band will play again, actually went and got the live Tote show of the band from 2016 to listen to on Bandcamp while I was editing. Holds up quite well.
