with Collard Greens and Gravy, Louis King and the Liars Club, Sweet Felicia and the Honeytones
Freddie Wimples/George Lane, Saturday 28th February 2026
I had missed this for the last few years due to having stuff on. This year the weather conspired against me. The wet tropical system made me worn out even before I got there and I felt like I was done before I even made it to the first gig!
It was still good to see Collard Greens and Gravy after all this time even if I did not stay too long. I will have to go and see them again some time.
I went around to George Lane in plenty of time but they had taken most of the chairs out. Whoever was there seems to have crawled out of the primordial ooze and evolved to sit on chairs they were there so early!
This meant that I just took photos for the first couple of songs and then went back to sit up the back for Louis King and the Liars Club and then for Sweet Felicia and the Honeytones I had already decided to go see the show at Theatreworks instead of going to outside gigs at the Acland Street stage or I would have expired! I saw Paulie from the Detonators on the way down and Sweet Felicia having dinner at Topolinos after the show.
While this festival is good in theory, it is not really for me as it seems to be well covered enough and a bit of a tough one for me.
